Video art/animation Call for Submissions: Cloaked in Code

02-03-2016 12:50

Is a digital textile purely light and numbers, or is it hybrid-straddling virtual and physical space? What does the evolution of textiles from analog to digital media imply or reveal about the narrative of human progress?

Subtle Technologies seeks submissions of video art and animation that explore or expand the definition of the digital textile and speculate its future. Selected videos will be presented in the program Cloaked In Code and will be screened in Toronto on May 13th, 2016 during Future Proof, a wearable technology fashion show as part of the 19th Annual Subtle Technologies Festival.

Selected applicants will gain critical exposure to influential Canadian makers and thinkers as well as leaders in the Toronto fashion and wearable technology communities. The Cloaked In Code program will also be accessible to an international audience, hosted on the Subtle Technologies website from May through August, 2016.

To apply download and complete the Cloaked In Code application form on Subtle Technologies' website.

You may submit up to 5 hyperlinks to videos or animations for consideration. Please enclose any necessary information for password-protected files.

• Along with your application form, please submit the following:
• Artist statement, précis or summary of research interests (250-500 words)
• A recent bio
• An up-to-date C.V.

Deadline: Friday April 1st, 2016
Selections will be announced and applicants notified on Monday, April 18th, 2016.
