NoHA (Node for Hybrid Arts) is a research and creative hub operating at the intersection of Biology and Art, based within the InArts laboratory. It supports doctoral/postdoctoral research and art residencies by providing guidance and training on questions of Ethics and Aesthetics.
Research at NoHA explores four interrelated artistic practices: Bioart, which engages directly with living organisms, biological materials, and biotechnologies, examining life, ethics, and scientific creativity; Body Art, which uses the human body as a primary medium to explore embodiment, identity, and corporeal experience; Ecoart, which addresses ecological systems, sustainability, and the relationships between humans and the environment, often incorporating natural processes or collaborations with non-human actors; and Speculative Narrative, which employs storytelling and scenario-building to imagine alternative futures and rethink the social, ethical, and ecological implications of art and science.
Through new media and bio-media that incorporate the body, NoHA investigates how these practices can envision and reshape the future of health. Its work spans physical and digital spaces, devices, code-based platforms, and cultural environments such as spaces of care, rehabilitation, birth, and death, focusing on the interplay between human and non-human actors.
