Graduate thesis title: "HEARTs display: design and practice of a participatory performative BioArt lab on the anatomy of the human heart"
Supervisor: Dalila Honorato
New movements and art forms with alternative techniques and methodologies have evolved since the beginning of the 21st century, influenced by the emergence of Biotechnology. Both BioArt and Biohacking aim to disseminate information on science and technology related topics in a variety of ways of transmitting and presenting. One of them is through educational performative labs open to the general public. The purpose of this thesis is to create an analogous lab by putting together Biology and Art topics. The heart is one of the most important organs in the biological system and one of the most important symbols of human civilization. This thesis is developed through the understanding of the physiology and anatomy of the human heart and the brief historical retrospective of its visual representation, accomplishing the performance and documentation stages of such particular lab procedures.
