Maria Katsaridou is a postdoctoral researcher at the Ionian University's Department of Audio and Visual Arts in Corfu, Greece, specializing in semiotics, animation studies, and interactive narratives. She holds a PhD in Social Semiotics of Animation Films from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2019), where she also completed her Master's in European Literature and Culture.

Her research focuses on the intersection of semiotics, visual culture, and digital storytelling, with particular emphasis on animation, video games, and interactive media. She has taught courses on visual narrative, graphic arts, and interactive storytelling semiotics at both undergraduate and graduate levels at Ionian University and Aristotle University.

Dr. Katsaridou has published extensively on topics including video game adaptations, animation semiotics, and transmedia storytelling, with her work appearing in academic journals and edited volumes. She is a founding member of the Media Semiotics Research Group (Semiolab) at Aristotle University and maintains active membership in international academic societies including ASIFA, ISIS, DiGRA, and SAS. Beyond academia, she has professional experience in animation production, storyboarding, and cultural project management.
