The Node for Animation Art (NoAA) focuses on the study and development of animation as a critical, experimental, and hybrid practice. It brings together researchers and artists working across traditional and emerging forms of animation—2D, 3D, stop-motion, generative motion, and algorithmic or data-driven animation—treating animation not only as a technical craft but also as a conceptual and cultural field.
NoAA supports projects that investigate movement, temporality, embodiment, and visual storytelling, while also foregrounding the socio-political dimensions of animated images, including representation, labor, and the ethics of computational motion. The Node encourages cross-disciplinary collaborations linking animation with performance, sound, interactive media, scientific visualization, and expanded cinema.
