In July 2023, as part of their social engagement and public outreach, Laboratories of the Ionian University and the non-profit Association that organizes the international film festival KYMATA in Argostoli, Kefalonia, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
Specifically, the Laboratory of New Media Communication and Usability (NeMeCULAB), based in the Department of Digital Media and Communication in Argostoli and directed by Assistant Professor Nikos Antonopoulos, and the Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts), based in the Department of Audio & Visual Arts in Corfu and directed by Professor Andreas Giannakoulopoulos—both belonging to the Ionian University—signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the non-profit “Environmental and Cultural Association of Kefalonia,” based in Argostoli, whose Artistic Director and Festival Producer for the KYMATA Film Festival is Mr. Marinos Sklavounakis.
One of the first actions implemented under this agreement was the support of the Festival’s online communication through the domain https://kymatafestival.gr, concerning the 2nd KYMATA Film Festival (2023), which will take place from 27 August to 3 September 2023 in Kefalonia. International in scope, the Festival aims to become a significant cinematic event. It is funded by the Region of the Ionian Islands, the Municipality of Argostoli, the Greek National Tourism Organization, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Finally, this collaboration represents another outward-looking initiative of the Ionian University’s Laboratories, aimed at developing partnerships with institutions for the joint promotion of shared goals and programs, and for the exchange of information, ideas, and expertise.
