Participation of the Interactive Arts Laboratory members at the Chania Film Festival

Members of the Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts) of the Ionian University, as part of the memorandum of cooperation between the laboratory and the Chania Film Festival, made a dynamic contribution to this year’s Chania Film Festival by organizing three innovative workshops focused on interactive art, cinema, and new technologies. Faculty members, researchers, and PhD candidates offered participants a unique opportunity to explore new methodologies and enhance their creative skills.

Become a Hero in a Game: Creation and Fun in the Metaverse World

Facilitators: Dr. Varvara Garneli, PhD candidate Leonidas Goudelis, PhD candidate Ioanna Afroditi Mazi, under the guidance of Professor Ioannis Deliyannis.

Venue: Chania Cultural Center

This workshop focused on game creation using Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies, allowing participants to experience the Metaverse. Through this interactive approach, participants developed their original ideas and created role-playing games in teams, gaining valuable insights into cutting-edge techniques in the field.

Pitch Like a Pro: From Theory to Practice

This three-hour master class, led by Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos, Assistant Professor in the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, aimed to prepare directors, producers, and screenwriters in the art of pitching cinematic ideas. Through theoretical analysis and practical exercises, participants learned how to present their projects effectively, receiving valuable advice and immediate feedback.

AI Comics Creation: Step into a World of Imagination

Facilitators: Members of the research team from the Ionian University’s Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts).

Venue: Chania Cultural Center

This workshop introduced participants to the latest technologies leveraging Artificial Intelligence for comic creation. Through a series of interactive exercises, they became familiar with tools and methods for designing imaginative worlds and characters, unlocking new avenues for creative expression. The participation of members of the Interactive Arts Laboratory in the Chania Film Festival highlighted their innovative approach to contemporary art forms and new technologies. It provided participants with invaluable experiences while enhancing the academic and artistic presence of the Ionian University.
