The Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts Lab) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University proudly welcomes Nathalie Dubois-Calero as the first artist-in-residency at the Node of Hybrid Arts for Spring and Fall 2025.

Her residency unfolds in two phases—April 29 to June 6, and September to October 2025—at Studio YK3 within the Ionian University campus. The residency includes access to research and production facilities, with her participation integrated into the university’s postgraduate curriculum and public program.

A visual artist and biologist, Nathalie Dubois-Calero holds a PhD in biology from UPMC (France) and an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Windsor (Canada). Her interdisciplinary practice blends scientific inquiry and visual storytelling, engaging with microbiological themes through media such as textiles, pH-reactive tattoo inks, nutrient substrates, and audiovisual installations.

At the heart of her current work lies the evolving series "BacterVirHuman", which investigates human-microbial-viral entanglements and questions notions of identity across scales of life and perception. Her approach proposes poetic, critical, and sensory engagement with the invisible forces that shape the living.

This residency is part of InArts Lab’s commitment to supporting research-driven practices in hybrid arts and expanding dialogue between disciplines.
