Polyxeni Kaimara is a psychologist at the Center of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the General Hospital of Florina (formerly the Center for Education, Social Support, and Training of Persons with Disabilities), seconded to the Psychiatric Department of the General Hospital of Corfu. Since December 2016, she has been a PhD candidate at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University. She holds a degree in Philosophy, Education, and Psychology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1991), and two Master’s degrees — in School and Developmental Psychology from the same university (1996) and in Public Health – Health Standards and Behaviors from the National School of Public Health (2011). She also holds a Specialization Diploma in Counseling and Career Guidance from ASPETE (2001), and has teaching experience in higher, tertiary (ASPETE), and secondary education.
She has been a Certified Adult Educator since 2006 (EOPPEP, formerly EKEPIS), a member of the Main Teaching Staff Registry of the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, an Evaluator of Educational Competence for Adult Trainers and Support Services Personnel of the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance, and an active member of Support Services Staff.
She is the author of two chapters in the book Didactics of Smart Pedagogy: Smart Pedagogy for Technology Enhanced Learning (Springer International Publishing, Daniela Linda, Ed., 2019) and has published more than 15 articles in proceedings of Greek and international conferences.
Her research interests focus on the design of educational material for special education, the study of emerging technologies and their contribution to learning, and the use of digital games to design inclusive education programs. Her vision is to create a “school for all,” free of discrimination and exclusion — a vision she believes can be realized through the audiovisual arts.
Since 2017, she has been teaching Educational Psychology in the Special Study Program for Pedagogical and Teaching Competence Certification of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts (PPE TTHXE).
