Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science 2018 next November in Mexico [11-13/11/18]

The final program of the Third Interdisciplinary Conference "Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art & Science" has just been released. The conference, hosted by the Centro de Cultura Digital (CCD) on November 11th and by the Instituto de Investigaciones Filosoficas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IIFs-UNAM) on November 12-13th, continues to focus: a) on questions about the nature of the forbidden and about the aesthetics of liminality - as expressed in art that uses or is inspired by technology and science, b) in the opening of spaces for creative transformation in the merging of science and art. The organization of TTT2018 is a joined effort of the committee composed by: Dalila Honorato and Andreas Giannakoulopoulos, Ionian University, Greece, María Antonia González Valerio, Research and Creation Group Arte+Ciencia, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Marta de Menezes, Cultivamos Cultura, Portugal and Ana Ventura Miranda, Arte Institute, USA.

With 77 presentations taking place in Mexico City, TTT2018 has 96 speakers coming from Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom and USA. The conference is organized in collaboration with FACTT Mexico 2018 by Arte Institute and Cultivamos Cultura within Festival N by UNAM and Bioscenica. The festival opening is on November 10th at 12:00 with the inauguration of its exhibition "Espacios de Especies" [Spaces of Species] at the Centro de Cultura Digital. The works presented in the exhibition, curated by Mariantonia González Valerio, question the categories of adaptation, variation and speciation based on the relationship of reciprocity between living organisms and the environment. The exhibition will take place until 15 of February and includes artworks by: Brandon Ballengée, Andy Gracie, Bios ex Machina, Jaime Lobato, Kathy High, Lena Ortega, Marta de Menezes, Minerva Hernández Trejo, Abigail Jara, Alberto Cerro, Héctor Ugalde, Irasema Serrano, Alejandro Ortiz & Ary Ehrenberg, D.H. Also, on November 8-9th the satellite event of TTT2018, curated by Adam Zaretsky and Alejandro Chellet, "BioCuerpos Perfor|m|ados" is organized by the Grace Exhibition Space in collaboration with Casa Viva Gallery, Paranoid Visions UTA and Anemonal. Hosted by Paranoid Visions UTA and Casa Viva Gallery, this two nights performances counts with the presence of artists: Boryana Rossa Dragoeva, Kim Doan Quoc, Kira deCoudres, Oya Damla, Alexander Romania, Praba Pilar, Adam Zaretsky, Swan Panda [Jorge Ramirez and Julian Stadon], Alejandro Chellet, Marita Solberg, Cecilia Vilca, Lorena Lo Peña, Jacco Borggreve, Margherita Pevere and María Eugenia Chellet.
